Spravato® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression and for those experiencing depressive symptoms with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. It offers a different approach than traditional antidepressants and may provide relief when other treatments have not been effective.

Spravato® is a nasal spray administered in a monitored clinical setting. Unlike traditional medications that primarily affect serotonin, Spravato® targets the glutamate system—helping to restore connections in the brain that impact mood, cognition, and emotional regulation.

 Spravato® may be appropriate for individuals who:

• Have not responded to multiple antidepressant medications 
• Experience persistent or severe depression 
• Need a more rapid response to treatment 
• Are looking for additional options beyond traditional medications 

A comprehensive evaluation is required to determine if Spravato® is appropriate for you.

• Initial Evaluation: A thorough psychiatric assessment to determine eligibility 
• Treatment Sessions: Administered in-office under supervision 
• Monitoring: You will be monitored for at least 2 hours after each treatment 
• Transportation: You must arrange a safe ride home—driving is not permitted after treatment 

Treatment typically begins with twice-weekly sessions, followed by a gradual reduction in frequency based on your response.

Spravato® is only available through a certified program due to potential side effects, including:

• Sedation 
• Dissociation (feeling detached or “out of body”) 
• Increased blood pressure 

Your safety is our priority. Vital signs and response are closely monitored throughout each session.

Coverage for Spravato® varies by insurance plan. Our office will assist with benefits verification and prior authorization when applicable. Self-pay options may be available.
